Welcome

Welcome to the Diabetes Center at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

The Diabetes Center at UCSF has one mission: to advance the care and treatment of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes worldwide so that we may achieve the ultimate goal of bringing an end to the disease.

Our organization was born from the devastation of diabetes, the clinical and educational needs of patients, and the firm belief that scientific insights into the causes of diabetes will lead to a cure.

In the year 2010, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive Diabetes Center that united the research, clinical care and education aspects of diabetes at UCSF. We look back with great pride at the advances of our clinicians, educators and researchers have made since the year 2000, building on UCSF's many breakthrough discoveries in diabetes over the previous decades.

To celebrate the Diabetes Center's recent achievements, we've created a document called Millennium Milestones. Moving ahead, we will continue to invest in research, education, and training of new leaders in the field of diabetes to progress towards a cure and end of the disease.

We invite you to learn more about our research and clinical care successes, and we welcome your involvement and support as we strive to improve the quality of life for those living with diabetes.
