Are you aware of the following shocking statistics? Nearly 100,000 American men, women and children currently await life-saving transplants, a large percentage of whom have diabetes; Approximately 18,000 Californians are waiting for an organ transplant, nearly 20% of the total number of patients waiting for a transplant -- and a second chance at life; Every 13 minutes another name is added to the national transplant waiting list; An average of 17 people dies each day waiting for an organ transplant.
The State of California has created a life-saving “Donate Life” California Online Donor Registry. It has never been easier to register your decision to be an organ and tissue donor!
The Donate Life California Registry is a confidential database that provides an opportunity for Californians to clearly state their commitment to donate life by signing up at www.donateLIFEcalifornia.org or the Spanish-language site, www.doneVIDAcalifornia.org.
Until last year, no Registry existed for those who wished to express their wishes to be organ and tissue donors. Historically in California -- by signing a donor card and placing the pink dot on your license, you were symbolically expressing your intent. However, it did not place you on any list.
Now, Donate Life California allows you to express your commitment to becoming an organ, eye and tissue donor. The Registry guarantees your plans will be carried out when you die. Your generosity can save up to eight lives through organ donation and enhance another fifty through tissue donation.
Spread the word about this important website and help save lives! Why not send an email to your friends, family and business colleagues encouraging them to register online?
