New Immune Cell Discovery to Impact Autoimmune Diseases

Mark Anderson, MD, PhD, and his colleagues have discovered a distinctive type of immune cell called an eTAC, which puts a damper on immune responses and could eventually lead to more effective treatments for autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes.

Recently published in the journal Immunity, Anderson’s research showed that eTACs counteract the overactive immune response in autoimmune diseases and may be manipulated to stop the destruction of the pancreas in a mouse model of type 1 diabetes. Click here to read the article
