NON DIABETICS: AGE 20 TO 50, NOT EXERCISING REGULARLY AND OF NORMAL BODY WEIGHT (Chromium)

CHROMIUN AND INSULIN RESISTANCE STUDY

Investigators at the University of California, San Francisco are interested in finding out the effect of chromium therapy on insulin resistance.

Who can sign up for this study?
To be eligible, you must be a healthy 20 to 50 year old non-diabetic, not exercising regularly and of normal body weight.

What will happen in this study?
All subjects will undergo blood and muscle tests to determine if they are insulin resistant or insulin sensitive. Subjects who qualify will also receive either chromium therapy or a placebo (inactive substance) for 16 weeks. UCSF will study the results of chromium on body fat and muscle function.

How long will this study last?
Each participant will be followed for 16 weeks.

Reimbursement: You will be paid up to $500 for your time, effort and travel expenses.
