This course is designed for patients with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes.

INIVIDUAL CONSULTATION WITH THE DIABETES CENTER STAFF:
Our Diabetes teaching nurse and Diabetes Dietitian are available for one-on-one sessions with patients who need to work on specific diabetes self-care skills. These sessions are available to patients who have gone through the intensive courses described above and for patients who are unable to attend those courses.

GLUCOSE METER SERVICE:
Home glucose monitoring is the cornerstone of modern diabetes self-care. This service is designed to assist patients who monitor their blood sugars at home, checking their technique and the accuracy of their meters. Meters are inspected for proper calibration and their responsiveness to a wide range of glucose values. Patient technique is observed and corrections are taught.

HYPERLIPIDEMIA DIETARY COUNSELING:
Individual sessions with our dietitian are available to discuss dietary intervention for the treatment of high cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Elevated cholesterol levels are a major risk factor for heart disease. Dietary modification is the initial step in the reversal of this problem and may forestall use of medications.
